Citi Field hosts third annual Brooklyn Burger Eating Contest

Before the Mets faced the Phillies on Saturday, a different kind of competition took place right outside Citi Field: the third annual Brooklyn Burger Eating Contest. Mets world champion and SNY broadcaster Keith Hernandez served as guest emcee as 16 competitors slammed down as many Brooklyn Burgers as they could in five minutes.

Wayne Algeno from Hollis, N.Y., won the crown, eating an incredible 16 burgers to beat the old record of 15. No stranger to competitive eating contests, the champ has participated in more than 20.

Algeno took home a signed David Wright jersey and got to watch the day's game from the comfort of a suite.

"I couldn't ask for more," he said.
