Coach Nick Saban and Alabama look to Mariano Rivera for inspiration
It may be January, but it sounds like at least one team is using Mariano Rivera to close out games.
Nick Saban recently showed his Alabama team video of the Yankees reliever to instill focus and determination prior to the Crimson Tide’s BCS Championship matchup against Notre Dame on Monday night.
"When he runs out and they hand him the ball, he's got one focus," Saban told the New York Post. "He's not worried about the crowd; he's not worried about any of the external factors. One focus: three outs; how am I going to get three outs."
With 608 saves, a career 2.21 ERA and five World Series rings, it's tough to find a more clutch performer than Mo. We're not sure what tape Saban showed his squad, but here's a quick glance back at the closer's Hall of Fame career.
