In his last start, Corey Kluber struck out 18 batters -- tying Cleveland legend Bob Feller for the most in a nine-inning game in franchise history. One might think that in his next start, Kluber's arm would be tired. Maybe he won't throw as hard? Maybe he won't strike out anybody? Well, one would be wrong. Here's how the first five batters on Monday night fared:
Kluber would go on to strike out seven more White Sox hitters over nine innings, giving up just five hits and one run.
Unfortunately, for Tribe fans, Kluber took a no-decision and Chicago walked it off in the 10th. Chris Sale, another pretty good pitcher, also turned in a great performance -- striking out seven, while allowing just four hits and one run through eight innings.
But back to Kluber: The Indians ace now has 30 strikeouts in his last 17 innings, while allowing just one walk and one run.
