Padres rookie Cory Spangenberg made his first big-league homer a walk-off

Cory Spangenberg's first HR is a walk-off

We all dream of hitting a big league home run. That somehow, after years of Weapon X-style genetic testing, us non-athletic bozos will have the ability to magically hit a dinger in the bottom of the ninth inning of a tie baseball game.

Padres prospect Cory Spangenberg got to live out that dream for his first big league shot. And because he is an honest to gosh professional athlete, he got to leave out all the terrifying scientific experimentation. How lucky can one guy get?

After making his debut on Monday, driving in two runs that proved to be the difference in the Padres victory over the D-Backs, Spangenberg was back at it again on Tuesday.

With the game tied at 1 in the bottom of the ninth, Spangenberg came off the bench as a pinch-hitter for Cameron Maybin. On the first pitch he saw from Brad Ziegler, he lifted it into the night sky and ... BOOM.

Well, guess it's back to the terrifying medical lab for me. Because I really want to hit a walk-off home run.
