Costas weighs in on Guillen punishment

Bob Costas called into the Dan Patrick Show this morning, and Patrick posed an interesting question in reference to photos of Bud Selig and Fidel Castro seated next to each other during a game played in Cuba in 1999:

"How do you issue punishment [to Ozzie Guillen], and you're sitting next to Fidel Castro. You're not saying 'I love the guy,' but still sitting next to him."

Costas' response:

"In a certain sense, Bud Selig is baseball's head of state. When heads of state or representatives of institutions visit other countries, there are pictures. There are photos ops ... I think a mere photo op doesn't necessarily render baseball hypocritical in this situation."
