This CPBL game briefly transformed into a madcap episode of cartoon baseball

(Clair, Michael)

We marvel at the glorious things in baseball like massive home runs and physics-defying spike curves, but if we're being honest, most of us probably take even greater pleasure when the game breaks down in chaos.
In the top of the second of the CPBL's Lamigo Monkeys-Uni Lions game on Thursday, the Monkeys had the bases loaded when Liang Chia-Jung hit a ground ball up the middle. And then madness broke out.
The ball bounced off second baseman Wu Kuo-Hao's glove and soared high into the sky. The shortstop, Chen Chieh-Hsien, grabbed it, spun and threw to third. Except, that throw sailed away. It bounced off the dugout and was corralled by the third baseman, Chen Yung-Chi, who raced back to the bag to tag out the runner that was off the bag. But the play wasn't over yet. Oh no.
Trying to catch another runner that had strayed from the first base bag, Yung-Chi threw across the field. Except, whoops, that one got away and flew down the first-base line.
Check out the play below and revel in the fact that baseball can be great and hilarious all at once.

Yes, somehow there were only two errors on the play.
