Announcer Danny Duffy read Whit Merrifield's wall-scraping home run perfectly off the bat

On the mound, Royals starter Danny Duffy doesn't give up a ton of home runs. Among pitchers who pitched at least 100 innings in 2017, Duffy gave up the eighth-fewest home runs per nine innings and had the lowest rate of home runs per fly balls.
In the dugout, however, Duffy appears to be a bit of an expert on home runs. During the fifth inning of Wednesday afternoon's game against the Blue Jays, Duffy went on the Facebook Watch broadcast for an interview. He ended up impressively calling Whit Merrifield's wall-scraping dinger. The moment the ball left the bat, Duffy declared "that ball's gone, boys." You can check out the call in the video above.
It also seemed that Duffy's presence on the broadcast was a good-luck charm for his team as Jon Jay led off with a hard-hit single prior to Merrifield's home run. Unfortunately for the Royals, he wasn't able to stay on longer, as the team lost, 15-5.
