Definitive proof that MLB teams are as ready as the rest of us for 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'

MLB teams are super excited about 'Star Wars'

It's here. It's here, it's here, it's here, it's here. On Friday, Dec. 18, 2015, Disney's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will storm its way into a theater near you (some, in fact, are showing it on Thursday night), but you probably already knew that considering that you bought your tickets months ago and already picked up your Jedi robe from the cleaners.

Just in case you thought that you and other "Star Wars" fanatics were alone in your breathe-into-a-paper-bag excitement over the new film, here's tangible proof that MLB teams have been preparing for this moment for years.

D-backs play-by-play broadcaster Steve Berthiaume and his cohort Bob Brenly have been so amped for the new film, they've basically been in costume since July of last year:

When Chewy was done calling the D-backs game, he threw out a first pitch for the Cardinals, and it turns out he's got a sick sinker:

Phil Hughes decided that painting the corners of the strike zone wasn't exciting enough anymore, so he gave being a Jedi a shot to help promote the Twins' Star Wars Day with a shot-for-shot re-enactment of the "Force Awakens" trailer:

C-3PO and Chewbacca moonlit as Pirates broadcasters back in August:

The Phanatic was more than just a little excited about the forthcoming film, trying to get the Dark Lord himself and a gaggle of stormtroopers in on the action, but they were having none of it:

Though, it did seem wildly irresponsible to allow the stormtroopers to operate the hot dog cannon:

Even the Nationals' racing presidents caught the "Star Wars" fever. Teddy and the gang dressed up as their favorite characters from the "Star Wars" universe and had a lightsaber battle:

The Marlins expressed their excitement by doling out "Jedi Billy" bobbleheads:

The anticipation didn't stop at the MLB level, either. Minor League teams got in on the excitement with "Star Wars" themed jerseys, including one that honored the oft-overlooked Jabba the Hutt.

The MLB teams are so jazzed about the new film that they've unveiled an entire line of "Star Wars" themed merchandise so that every fan can keep the force with them and support their favorite teams simultaneously.

Hall of Fame pitcher Pedro Martinez is such a Star Wars fanatic that he started gearing up for the premiere 17 years ago ... in the Red Sox dugout:

And it looks like all of their patience is paying off: Initial (spoiler-free) reviews of J.J. Abrams' chapter in the epic saga indicate that it probably turned out a little better than Darth Vader's first pitch for the Rays back in 2014:
