Delmon's go-ahead blast all about redemption

Back on August 15, Delmon Young was toiling with the Twins hitting .266 with a mere four homers and 32 RBIs. Minnesota placed him on waivers and the Tigers claimed him, deciding to take a chance on a former No. 1 overall Draft pick who never fulfilled his promise.

Naysayers continued to doubt the move, citing his .298 on-base percentage in 40 contests with Detroit and because of the whole swing-at-every-first-pitch thing.

But with one swing of the bat on Monday night, Young did his best to render all of that moot. Given his chance at redemption, the left fielder owned it, delivering a go-ahead blast to put the Verlanders up, 5-4, and a 2-1 series lead to a franchise that still saw hope in a faded prospect.

Adorable, right?
