Derek Jeter farewell tour continues: Twins give The Captain a Metrodome base
You might have heard of a man named Derek Jeter. He plays baseball professionally for the Yankees of New York and has done so for the past two decades. At the end of the 2014 season--barring a Brett Favre situation--Jeter will hang 'em up and call it a career.
Among the many accolaides, awards and records he'll have to his name when he calls it quits, Jeter will also have to build a new wing at St. Jetersburg just to house all the stuff he's gotten from opponents throughout his farewell tour. He's already gotten boots and a surf board and a bunch of other swag we're all jealous of. On Saturday, that collection grew when the Twins awarded him with a second base from their old home, the Metrodome.
They also donated $10,000 to Jeter's Turn 2 Foundation which works toward helping young people stay away from drugs and alcohol to lead healthy lifestyles.
