Dragon Boat Festival and baseball, that's what Maryland does

Saturday not only featured another Battle of the Beltways matchup between the Orioles and Nationals, but it was also a pre-celebration of sorts for the Dragon Boat Festival -- a cultural holiday in Taiwan celebrated on June 23.

Wei-Yin Chen, the Orioles' first Taiwanese player, took the mound at Camden Yards with additional support in the stands from members of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in Washington, D.C., including Ambassador Jason Yuan and his wife.

Yuan threw out the ceremonial first pitch and then exchanged gifts with manager Buck Showalter. The ambassador received a personalized jersey and Showalter was given a porcelain vase.

Yuan's office also arranged for a traditional Chinese dance troupe to perform outside the stadium before the game, complete with ornate costumes showcasing Taiwanese culture.
