Edwin Encarnacion's parrot had to take a brief pause during his home run trot

When Edwin Encarnacion signed with the Indians prior to the 2017 campaign, it meant more than just a power bat joining Cleveland's pennant-winning lineup. It meant that the parrot he popularized in Toronto would be coming to Ohio, as well.
Every time Encarnacion goes yard, he puts up his arm as if holding a parrot around the bases, but Saturday night's 5-3 loss to the White Sox brought a hiccup to the equation. In the fourth inning, the slugger walloped a David Holmberg pitch over the left-center-field wall for his 12th homer of the season.
Parrot status: engaged.

There was some mild confusion, though, as the blast hit off a railing and caromed back to the field. At first, there was some thought that the ball might have hit the top of the wall, making it still in play.
So, the parrot had to pause.

Fortunately, order was quickly restored and Encarnacion's parrot continued on along its merry way. Avian crisis averted!
