Eleven years after attacks, Mets honor fallen heroes
Before Tuesday night's game against the Nationals, the Mets paid respect to those who perished 11 years ago during the attacks on the World Trade Center.
During batting practice, the Mets wore hats honoring the First Responders. The hats will be auctioned off with the proceeds going to various 9/11 organizations.
After a moment of silence, Juliette Candela of Tuesday's Children sang the National Anthem. The organization provides aid to the families of the First Responders who were lost on 9/11.
Lt. Ronnie Gies of the FDNY threw out the ceremonial first pitch to David Wright.
