Even with no Jeter, A-Rod or Teixeira, the 'Roll Call' goes on
No, the Yankees didn't win Monday and extend their 11-game Opening Day win streak, but that doesn't mean there wasn't unbridled enthusiasm amongst the rowdy scrum known colloquially as the Bleacher Creatures.
As the game against the Red Sox began, the outfield fans began their infamous "Roll Call" chant and it certainly sounded a little different than usual. Of the 10 players who led the team in home runs just a season ago, precisely one took the field Monday -- Robinson Cano.
Still, it was the first Roll Call of the new year, and we'd be remiss if we didn't show it to you. The season, now, is officially underway in the Bronx.
