Ricocheting foul ball leads to amusing ping-pong scene in the stands at Brewers-Phillies game
Without the benefit of a glove, securing a baseball can be tough. This season's already had plenty of stellar barehanded plays from fans in the stands, but it's important to remember that those aren't the norm. The circumstance leads more often to … funny sequences, despite fans' best intentions.
That fact was driven home in the fourth inning of the Brewers' 6-3 win over the Phillies on Saturday. Carlos Ruiz was at the plate, and a foul shot up into the stands led to an amusing game of ping-pong as fans tried -- and failed -- to get ahold of the baseball.
The next pitch wound up in the same section, much to the delight of a guy who was just barely out of reach of the first foul.
As the above sequence shows, baseball elicits so many wondrous emotions sometimes.
