Photo of the Day: Fenway Park ... without a baseball diamond

POTD: Fenway Park sans a baseball diamond

There was something off about Fenway Park this week. Sure, the Green Monster was still towering over left field, the Pesky Pole stood tall in the right-field corner and the bleachers and stands were all intact. But the baseball diamond had, um, disappeared:

A huge thank you to all of the Red Sox groundcrew, sports turf specialties crew, general maintenance landscaping crew and Tuckahoe Sod Farm for all of the extra efforts, attention to detail, and hard work yesterday and today to help us with this part of the football field conversion!!! I'm fortunate to work with such a talented group!!! #Thankyou #teamwork #attentiontodetail #appreciation #proud #hardwork #pride #dedication #redsox #groundscrew #groundskeeping #sportsturfspecialties #SportsTurfSpecialities #sts #tuckahoe #stma #NDvsBC #sportsturf #turf #footballatFenway #football #fenwaypark #fenway #bostonredsox #boston #hurling #highschoolfootball #NDfootball #BCfootball

WHAT.

WHERE.

Don't worry, guys. Nobody stole the baseball field. The Red Sox are just getting the grounds ready for the Shamrock Series matchup between Notre Dame and Boston College on Nov. 21. Although it may be an unsettling sight, the bases will be back in time for this man to trot around on them:
