Five lucky fans got free tickets from John Axford via the magic of Twitter

The power of social media can be seen every day. Whether it's finding out breaking news, seeing your own jersey at the mall or asking for help on getting the TV to work in the team hotel, Twitter has changed the daily lives of MLB players and all of us.

While at the Wisconsin State Fair, Alex Sobal was making a routine Twitter check when he saw the opportunity to win game tickets via John Axford's account. The Brewers closer was originally looking for fans to help him out and get some state fair food before the team flight. A change of plans led to a Twitter question. Five lucky fans won tickets to a Brewers game by correctly guessing Axford's age. One of them was Sobal, who said he was appreciative for the opportunity to come to a Brewers game.

"Before, you might be lucky to see them out and about, and connect with them," said Sobal. "Mainly you see them on the field, and that's about it. Now with Twitter, you can be in contact with them anywhere."

Sobal was given the opportunity to pick any game in September, and chose September 16th because of a fan giveaway: an Aramis Ramirez bobblehead. All parties were happy, as Ramirez hit a home run and Sobal was able to add one more bobblehead to his vast collection.

Axford sees the negatives of Twitter, but tries to only focus on the positives.

The fan-player interactions "have changed for the better," according to Axford. "It's a way for fans to know it's actually you. Following fans that are die-hards, where you have a good back and forth question and answer once in a while through Twitter."
