Gerrit Cole's pickoff throw tore a hole through Pedro Alvarez's glove

Cole's pickoff throw tears hole in Alvarez's glove

Apparently Gerrit Cole's parents haven't told him that they actually found him in a mysterious glowing space ship and that his otherworldly origin gives him some kind of super-strength. Surely that's the only explanation for what happened during Wednesday's game against the Cubs, when he launched this pickoff throw to Pedro Alvarez:

The ball tore straight through the glove, allowing the runner to advance to second and causing Alvarez to be charged with an error. But is it Alvarez's fault that the Coles haven't told their son he's an alien from the planet Krypton, and that if he doesn't temper the strength of his pickoff throws, he'll eventually tear holes not only through gloves, but through universes?

Well, I guess that's a bit harder to write on a scorecard.
