Tigers fan leaves fate of Nelson Cruz home run ball up to gravity's inevitable pull

The Tigers fan who caught what would prove to be Nelson Cruz's game-deciding two-run homer on Sunday could have done anything with it. He could have kept it, he could have thrown it back -- he could even have taken a bite out of it, hoping that perhaps it had a delicious nougat center. 

But why bother? Aren't our choices just the product of random synapses firing in our brains? Instead of choosing any of the above options, he instead set the ball on the ledge in front of him and let gravity decide the orb's fate:
