Goose Gossage and an independent team are giving away the 'Unwritten Rulebook'

One of the great mysteries of baseball is about to be revealed: On July 6, Rich "Goose" Gossage will tell us what, exactly, the unwritten rules of baseball are. And we know he has fairly strong opinions on these things.

The St. Paul Saints of the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball will give away "The 2016 Official Baseball Unwritten Rulebook" to the first 1,500 fans in attendance for their game against the Joplin Blasters. The pages will be blank at first -- unwritten -- and Gossage will be there to help fans figure out which rules should be included. The Saints explain:

"The Saints, along with former Major League pitcher and notable traditionalist Goose Gossage, will present both sides of the argument and let the fans decide … What about stealing a base when you're up 10 runs? It can be in the book. What about bunting on a pitcher throwing a no-hitter? All you have to do is flip open the book, grab a pencil and the answer can appear right before your eyes."

According to the press release, the "notable traditionalist" will also throw out the first pitch and spend some time in the broadcast booth. No word yet on if he'll be doing his best Natasha Bedingfield karaoke.
