Guy finds vintage 8mm film, turns out it's color footage of the 1956 Orioles home opener

Vintage, 1956 O's footage from an antiques store

The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. The fact that America's pastime has been around for so long and remained true to its original roots means a lot for the sport and its place in modern society.

More immediately, means you'll find a lot of baseball stuff at flea markets.

Lee Miller of the wonderfully-named Baltimore sports blog, I Hate J.J. Redick, was rooting through a box in an antiques store a few years back and happened upon a roll of 8mm film labeled "Orioles." With some help from the folks at AJ Video Services in South Baltimore, Miller had the film developed and realized it was color footage of the O's 1956 home opener.

Miller's footage shows a couple of at-bats from the 1956 game against the Washington Senators. Baltimore's Jim Wilson tossed a gem, fanning six and going the distance as Baltimore came out on top 3-2.

We're going to go out on a limb and say Miller and his vintage color footage won #TBT this week.
