Hanley Ramirez measured Henry Owens' foot with sunflower seeds for some reason

Ramirez measures Owens' foot with sunflower seeds

There are a number of questions you and I and Hanley Ramirez have about rookie Red Sox hurler Henry Owens.

How is he finding the transition from Triple-A to MLB?

What's it feel like to earn his first Major League win?

Does he have the same barber as Zack Greinke?

What is his shoe size?

In the dugout during the Red Sox's 7-2 victory at Comerica Park, Ramirez set about answering at least one of those questions. Using the very accurate measuring tool that is a bag of sunflower seeds, Ramirez (who had the day off) sized up his teammate's foot and concluded that Owens' right foot is approximately two sunflower seed pouches long.

What does that mean? Is the average foot size one-and-a-half sunflower seed pouches long? Why did Ramirez choose to measure Owens' foot then instead of waiting for a tape measure? Should we submit this study to a peer-reviewed academic journal?

Who knows, but I sure am glad we can check one Henry Owens question off our list. You may question Ramirez's methods, but you can't deny his results.
