Here's how Anthony Rendon's 10-RBI game stacks up in history

The Nationals had somewhat of a hit party against the Mets on Sunday afternoon -- beating their division rivals by a final score of 23-5. Everyone swung the bat well (especially when backup catcher Kevin Plawecki came in to pitch), but one man brought the lumber thunder harder than everybody else: Anthony Michael Rendon.

The Nationals third baseman broke out of an early-season slump, going 6-for-6 with three homers and 10 RBIs. The RBI total is a franchise record and just the fifth time it's been reached by an NL player in history. Overall, it's the 13th time someone has knocked in 10 or more during one contest. How does Rendon's compare to some of the more recent ones? Glad you asked.
Garret Anderson was the most recent to accomplish the feat -- going 4-for-6 with two homers and 10 RBIs against the Yankees in 2007:

Alex Rodriguez is next on the list -- tallying 4 hits in 5 at-bats, hitting three homers (including a grand slam) and collecting 10 RBIs in a game against the Angels in 2005. Bonus points for doing it against the ageless Bartolo Colon.

Nomar Garciaparra put up in 10 RBIs against the Mariners in 1999, hitting not one, but TWO grand slams. He also hit a two-run shot -- tallying three total hits in five turns at the plate:

In 1993, Hard Hittin' Mark Whiten may have put up one of the greatest offensive games in modern history. The Cardinals outfielder went 4-for-5 with FOUR homers and 12 RBIs (his team scored a total of 15 runs). He also had a grand slam. Watch the ridiculousness below:

Jim Bottomely was the only other player to tally 12 RBIs, doing it for the Cardinals against the Brooklyn Robins in 1924. He had six hits, one two-run homer and three singles. Fred Lynn and Reggie Jackson also put up 10-RBI games in their respective careers. Lynn, a rookie, went 5-for-6 with three homers against the Tigers in 1975, while Jackson also collected five hits and two two-run homers in a game against Boston in 1969.
