If not for his mother, Joe Namath could have been a baseball player

Joe Namath, dressed in a full Yankee uniform, threw the ceremonial first pitch before New York's Spring Training matchup with the Nationals on Monday. During an interview at Steinbrenner Field before that, he explained his love of baseball while growing up in the Pittsburgh area could very well have turned into a professional career -- if only his mother had not insisted on him going to college, which led to his Hall of Fame career in the AFL and NFL.
