Joe Girardi and C.C. Sabathia pitch in to help Hurricane Sandy relief efforts

The Yankees have been collecting donations for those affected by Hurricane Sandy at Yankee Stadium since Monday. On Wednesday, Joe Girardi and C.C. Sabathia stopped by the stadium to help collect donations from generous fans.

"It's definitely important to me,” Sabathia said. Especially living in the area now, seeing the stuff people are going through and the devastation, it means a lot to be able to come out here and try to help, any way I can.”

The Yankees want fans to know that donations for the relief effort will be accepted at any time through the end of the week. Individuals are encouraged to bring non-perishable food and household items to the Gate 2 entrance. For more information on the collection and what to bring, visit Yankees.com.
