Jordan Zimmermann’s college roommates road trip to watch him start Game 2
Bryce Harper's No. 34 was easily the most popular jersey among the Nats fans who made the trip to Busch Stadium for Monday's NLDS Game 2, probably followed by Stephen Strasburg's 37 and Ryan Zimmerman's 11.
So even with Jordan Zimmermann starting the game, it was a little odd to see three guys walking the lower concourse all wearing T-sherseys bearing his No. 27.
Turns out, Mike, Jake and Tim were teammates -- and roommates -- with the right-hander during their days playing college ball at the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point.
When the Nationals selected Zimmerman in the second round of the '07 Draft, the trio immediately adopted the script W. They follow the Nats as closely as they can from home in Wisconsin and made a spur-of-the-moment decision to drive seven hours from Milwaukee on Sunday.
"They're getting to us a little bit," said Tim of trash-talking Cardinals fans. "They think we're supporting Ryan Zimmerman."
