Justin Verlander insists he predicted the wildest play of 2018

(Bob Levey)

Tuesday's Astros-A's game gave us one of the most hilarious and unlikely walk-offs in recent baseball history when Alex Bregman chopped one in front of home plate and then ... chaos:

No one could have possibly predicted that Bregman's slow roller would result in a walk-off victory just moments later. Justin Verlander, however, claimed otherwise. The Astros pitcher insisted he miraculously predicted the madness, down to every last silly detail:

We'll just have to take his word for it.
Here are some other highlights from baseballers on social media over the last week ...
Nationals closer Sean Doolittle was named an All-Star for the second time in his career, and he had to make sure he alerted the original All Star experts -- Smash Mouth:

Reds infielder Alex Blandino got to pitch in Wednesday's game against the Indians and showed off a ridiculous knuckleball. Mariners reliever Dan Altavilla was a teammate of Blandino's in the 2013 Cape Cod League and had not-so-fond memories of the knuckler:

Rangers catcher Jose Trevino had a similar experience:

Beau Burrows is one of the top pitching prospects in the Tigers system, so we may see him making noise in the big leagues at some point in the near future. But for now, his television appearances are limited to him allowing hits to Tim Tebow in Minor League All-Star games:

Mariners outfield prospect Josh Stowers dropped some amusing baseball wisdom:

Reds pitching prospect Packy Naughton -- yes, Packy -- has some good flow, and wants to make sure you know that his in-game hair isn't necessarily his best:
