Little Jerry Seinfeld sent down by Mets, returns to farm

Little Jerry Seinfeld -- the live chicken Tim Byrdak bought for the Mets clubhouse following Frank Francisco's comments about the Yankees -- had a nice run in Queens.

But a Major League clubhouse is no place for a young bird to grow up.

So following Saturday's game, Byrdak took to Twitter asking his followers to find Little Jerry a safe new home. Farm Sanctuary, a Watkins Glen-based group dedicated to rescuing animals from factory farming, stepped forward and agreed to take custody of the Mets' unofficial mascot.

Byrdak handed over Little Jerry before Sunday's game, along with a check for $500 from the Mets to help pay for his food and shelter.

Looks like the real Jerry Seinfeld will need to find a new rally animal:
