Mariano Rivera pitches in at Yankees Holiday Food Drive
The Yankees held their 19th annual Holiday Food Drive at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday. Longtime closer Mariano Rivera was on hand to help collect food donations that will be distributed throughout the Bronx to those in need.
Rivera, who is involved with many different charities and functions, was happy to do his part.
“It’s wonderful, wonderful to see how people come and donate," he said. "Especially now with the disasters done by [Hurricane] Sandy. Christmas to me is giving. Not receiving, but giving. That’s what it is.”
Any fan who brings at least 30 pounds of nonperishable food during the drive will receive a voucher good for two complimentary grandstand or bleacher tickets or two half-price tickets in select general seating areas next season.
