Mascot behind the wheel: Mr. Met lends a helping hand during team moving day
The Mets are one week from pitchers and catchers reporting to Port St. Lucie, Fla., so on Monday, Mr. Met helped load up some of the team's equipment outside Citi Field. By noon, the truck was packed and ready to go with bats, balls, gum and turnstiles. Mr. Met attempted to drive the truck down, but his skills behind the wheel were just a little lacking.
Ruben Tejada also spoke to reporters and took a few cuts in the stadium's batting cage. The Mets shortstop was excited for the upcoming season and eager to participate in his second World Baseball Classic for Team Panama in a few weeks.
