Mets host Military Appreciation Night
The Mets and the USO of Metropolitan New York hosted their sixth annual Military Appreciation Night on Sunday, as Citi Field was home to one of the biggest gatherings of military personnel over Memorial Day weekend. Multiple pregame ceremonies took place before first pitch, including a re-enlistment ceremony, the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance (which Mets pitcher Collin McHugh participated in) and the USO Show Troupe performing.
Mets and Braves players and coaches lined up on the lines for an emotional National Anthem, sung by a member of the United States military, as they were joined by servicemembers. The first pitch was thrown by five members from each of the military branches to Mets players and coaches as well. The Mets organization donated over 5,000 tickets to the USO for tonight's game to military personnel and their families.
