Midsummer Classic: Cal's Perfect Script, 2001

For nearly a generation, Cal Ripken Jr. was the All-Star game.

Baseball's Iron Man began a string of 19 straight Midsummer Classic selections during his MVP 1983 season and was voted in as a starter for the first time the following year.

In 1991 -- his second AL MVP campaign -- Ripken went on a power binge at SkyDome, blasting his way to both the Home Run Derby title and All-Star Game MVP honors.

Fittingly, the Hall of Famer capped his legendary career with a pair of unforgettable moments at SAFECO Field in 2001. A decade later, we look back.
