Most fans at Dodger Stadium didn't even notice this incredible fan catch
In bottom of the ninth inning on Thursday night, Hanley Ramirez blasted a ball down the left-field line that sure looked like it was going to be a game-tying two-run home run. In anticipation, the hometown Dodgers crowd stood up and started cheering for their team -- only for the ball to curve foul. Instead of two runs, it was simply strike two.
But if the fans had waited an extra five seconds to cheer, they might have noticed something fairly incredible happen. As the ball curved into foul territory, a fan reached over the wall and caught the ball with his hat. But at that point, the fans were so disappointed that the ball wasn't a home run, they didn't even notice the catch.
Luckily, Vin Scully noticed the "hat trick" for the fans at home.
