Odubel Herrera struck out on a ball that hit him

It's never to fun to strike out, but usually there's no pain involved -- only a little shame. Odúbel Herrera found the exception to the rule during the Phillies' 2-1 loss to the Red Sox.
Reliever Heath Hembree had Herrera in a 2-2 count with the Phillies trailing by one in the bottom of the eighth. Seeking the strikeout, Hembree uncorked a vicious slider.
The pitch quickly dipped far out of the strike zone, but Herrera had already begun to swing -- even as it hit him:

Ouch.

The free-swinging Herrera just couldn't stop his swing in time, and now he likely has a bruise on his foot to pair with the K.
