No surprise here: Omar Vizquel is a Gold Glove-caliber first-base coach these days

Even at 49, Omar Vizquel can still field his position.
For 24 seasons, the infielder dazzled at shortstop for the Mariners, Indians, Giants, Rangers, White Sox and Blue Jays before retiring after the 2012 campaign. He picked up 11 Gold Glove Awards, made three All-Star Games and was pretty much a wizard in all facets of the game.
These days, he's a first-base coach -- the Tigers' first-base coach, specifically. And in Wednesday's contest with the Mariners he showed that, yes, his soft hands are still getting' it done even as he pushes 50:

With contending teams looking to the trade market to make roster tweaks in the coming weeks leading up to the non-waiver Trade Deadline on Aug. 1, we have to wonder if anyone will be calling the Tigers asking about Vizquel's availability ...
