Photo of the Day: Martin Luther King Jr. looks pretty good with a bat in his hands
On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we celebrate the legacy of one of the most prominent figures of the civil rights movement and his innumerable contributions to society.
But, as the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum reminds us, King was also a lover of baseball:
You can tell that King's daugher, Yolanda, was contemplating how to pitch against her father. Doug Glanville was ready with a scouting report detailing how he would approach the civil rights icon:
My #MLKDay @MLB breakdown. Can pitch MLK up and in due to his forward-low hand position. Then work him away with soft stuff since his open front side looks like he will pull off at any minute. Thanks @nlbmprez for photo! pic.twitter.com/EVL3qYtOkI- Doug Glanville (@dougglanville) January 15, 2018
We may never know whether Yolanda adopted an approach like the one Glanville advocated, but at least we have this photo of the Kings enjoying a casual game of baseball.
