Question of the Day: Moment of the Year?

The big announcement is coming Friday night exclusively on MLB.com and MLB Network, when one of eight nominees -- including Derek Jeter's 3,000th hit, Jim Thome's 600th homer and Mariano Rivera's record 602nd save -- will win Moment of the Year in the 10th annual GIBBYs, presented from 9-11 p.m. ET.

You can watch all eight video clips at MLB.com/GIBBYs to relive those moments while you wait and debate. Maybe it will be one of those three historic milestones, which held us spellbound during the 2011 season. Another career mark is nominated with them: Vladimir Guerrero's Sept. 26 single for Baltimore that made him the all-time hits leader (2,587) among Dominican-born players.

A couple of home runs that clinched postseason berths are on the list: Dan Johnson's mind-blowing pinch-hit homer for Tampa Bay on that final night of the regular season, and Ryan Braun's blast that gave Milwaukee its first division title since 1982. The other two nominees are Robinson Cano getting help from his father to win the State Farm Home Run Derby and the Yankees hitting a record three grand slams in a single game.

Moment of the Year is one of a record 19 categories in these Greatness in Baseball Yearly (GIBBYs), which were selected in extensive voting by fans, media, front-office personnel and MLB alumni -- those who watch baseball constantly. It's the final word on Major League Baseball awards season, and after millions of votes the clock is ticking ...
