Rays outfielder Johnny Field was an All-American wrestler in high school

Tons of Major Leaguers played other sports in high school, and even college, before focusing on baseball full time. Giants outfielder Austin Jackson was a highly-touted amateur basketball player, D-backs bullpen ace Archie Bradley had a scholarship to play quarterback at Oklahoma State and recent top Braves Draft pick Carter Stewart is quite the golfer. But rarely do you see a guy like Rays center fielder Johnny Field, who was an All-American wrestler at Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas.
Field, who is having quite the breakout season down in Tampa Bay, sat down with us to chat about his time on the mat, how he got into the sport as a kid and whether he thinks his wrestling experience would help him in a potential benches-clearing situation.
Check out the video at the top of the post to see the whole interview.
