All along the Monster, the K-Men do their work
Fenway Park's Green Monster is known to be the home of Red Sox mascot Wally, but it also hosts the K-Men. Group leader Kevin McCarthy explained that since 1998, "each year we pick one pitcher to post K's for at Fenway Park. So whenever that particular pitcher starts, we're here to post K's."
They try their best to choose the pitcher that will lead the team in strikeouts, as their previous starters were Pedro Martinez, Curt Schilling, Daisuke Matsuzaka and Josh Beckett. Despite some impressive strikeout totals over the years, the K-Men have never run out of K's. Kevin recalled that "in the Pedro days, we always had 27 in the bag." So how does one become a member of the K-Men? Just like the Red Sox, "you have to go down to Pawtucket and work your way up."
