Baseball is weird: Red Sox win on walk-off error

Sometimes baseball is weird.

Baltimore and Boston were all square at five runs apiece in the bottom of the ninth inning when Mike Carp offered baseball fans a glimpse at one of the game's rarer species: the walk-off error. Carp lined out to Orioles left fielder David Lough, but Lough's throw back to the infield was off-line (and third baseman Jonathan Schoop neglected to cut it off):

Dustin Pedroia raced home, the beards poured out of the dugout to celebrate and Boston took a 2-1 series lead. Baltimore will get a chance to earn a split in the series finale on Monday.
