Rex Ryan (jokingly?) names Bumgarner as Jets starting QB
Rex Ryan jokingly names Bumgarner Jets starting QB
Jets head coach Rex Ryan seems to understand that rooting for the Jets makes for a tough existence. The J-E-T-S JETS, JETS, JETS only recently rid themselves of the buttfumble nightmare, opting to use Geno Smith as their starting quarterback. A year and a half into that experiment, Ryan has decided it's time for someone else to start under center.
At a Thursday press conference, Ryan jokingly suggested that the Jets planned on giving "that Bumgarner guy" the start at QB.
Rex opens up today's news conference with levity: 'We're going to go with (Madison) Bumgarner.' Calls Giants World Series hero a machine.

Honestly, when you consider Smith's performance (10 INT in eight games) and realize that their next best option is Michael Vick ... how bad could Bumgarner actually be? And he did once have Super Bowl champion QB Russell Wilson as a roommate, so maybe he picked up a pointer or two.
