Sabathia, Granderson give Cano's dad a pitching un-pep talk
When a hurler is struggling on the mound, the pitching coach will usually come out for one a few standard discussions:
There's the "how much ya got left?" the "OK, here's the scouting report on this guy," the "Just take a deep breath and settle down," and the "Wow, you're so bad I have nothing to say. Let's just wait for someone else to warm up."
But what do you tell a pitcher who's trying to give up homers? "Throw it more down the middle?" CC Sabathia and Curtis Granderson gave it a shot during Tuesday's State Farm Home Run Derby.
