So, it kinda looked like Alex Sanabia spit on a baseball last night

We're big fans of the whole "innocent until proven guilty" thing, so let's try not to freak out about this, but the cameras at last night's Phillies-Marlins game pretty clearly caught Alex Sanabia spitting onto a baseball.

In case you don't know what you're seeing in the above video, the Phillies' Domonic Brown hits a home run off Sanabia who, annoyed, spits on the new ball in preparation for the next at-bat.

We isolated his expectorating as a GIF:

And this is the relevant frame:

So far, Sanabia does not face any potential punitive consequences, and Marlins manager Mike Redmond defended the right-hander on Tuesday. "I think it probably was unintentional," Redmond told MLB.com. "He was rubbing the ball. I don't think it was an intentional thing. I think he just did it probably without even knowing."

Here's the thing: regardless of whether his motives were nefarious or not, this sort of a move is blatantly against the rules of baseball, and the rules are the rules. Don't spit on baseballs, guys.
