Steven Souza gives fan high-five for awesome catch, turns out they went to high school together

Souza high-fives fan for great catch at Safeco

Rookie outfielder and Cascade High School graduate (GO BRUINS!) Steven Souza Jr. and the rest of the Rays spent their weekend in Seattle for a three-game series with the Mariners. Safeco Field is about a 35-minute drive south of Souza's hometown, so the trip served as a bit of a homecoming for him.

And like every other 26-year-old who goes home for the weekend, Souza bumped into someone he went to high school with. The difference, of course, being that Souza's a professional baseballer and the "someone he went to high school with" made a highlight reel catch in the right-field stands.

David Benson and Souza were actually friends back at Cascade. So much so that Benson shot Souza a text to let him know he'd be at Sunday's matinee. So when Souza looked up into the right-field seats and saw a familiar face make a great grab, he felt compelled to let his buddy know he'd done good.
