Starting Nine: Gettin' home run-crazy Upton here
Many things are happening -- on Cut4, in baseball and out there in the rest of the world. Here are nine you need to know about today:
1. J-Up and the Bravos
Justin hit his sixth home run in seven games on Monday night against the Marlins, helping the Braves improve to 6-1 on the season. The left fielder finished the day 4-for-4, raising his batting average to .423 while posting an intimidating 1.192 slugging percentage.
Rangers closer Joe Nathan got his 300th save against the Rays yesterday on a questionable call. Here's a video that includes both the Tampa and Texas broadcasts.
4. Because he's The Man
The Cardinals honored the late Stan Musial on their Opening Day by permanently adorning Busch Stadium's outfield wall with the Hall of Famer's number.
5. Reds storm
With the score tied 4-4 in the ninth, the Reds sent 15 batters to the plate and scored nine runs -- eventually beating the Cardinals 13-4.
6. O Tito, Where Art Thou?
The new Indians manager got lost on his way to his team's home opener not once, not twice, but three times! Two World Series rings and no sense of direction.
7. Hammerin' Hank
Thirty-nine years ago yesterday, Hank Aaron surpassed Babe Ruth with his 715th home run and two strange men ran on the field to pat him on the back.
9. Cardinals win it all
Louisville withstood a brilliant first-half effort by backup point guard Spike Albrecht to defeat Michigan 82-76. It's the Cardinals 3rd NCAA Championship and Rick Pitino's first experience with confetti.
