Starting Nine: One team, one day, two walk-offs

Many things are happening -- on Cut4, in baseball and out there in the rest of the world. Here are nine you need to know about today.

1. In the wee hours of Thursday morning, the Red Sox sealed an 8-7 victory over the Mariners on a walk-off single by Stephen Drew. Less than 24 hours later, they did it again. Boston earned their 11th walk-off win of the season early Friday, this time thanks to Daniel Nava. Who needs sleep when there's more baseball to win?

2. Yu Darvish must really like strikeouts. On Thursday night, he racked up 14 of them.

3. On Thursday, Brad Lidge formally retired in a Phillies uniform. He threw one last pitch in Citizens Bank Park -- from the very mound where he clinched the final out of the World Series in 2008.

4. Finally, the ideal photo to satisfy the Venn diagram intersection of people who love Adam Jones, Popeye's and birthday cake. Which, surely, contains everyone.

5. Things Brian Wilson is weirdly amazing (and amazingly weird at): Pitching. Facial Hair. Photoshop?

6. Oh, hold on -- you wanted that ball to be a home run? Lorenzo Cain is sorry, bro.

7. In the Dent family, antagonizing the Red Sox is something of a tradition. Bucky's son Cody, a Minor League shortstop, disrupted a perfect game by the Boston-affiliated Lowell Spinners in the ninth on Wednesday.

8. Don't worry about it, guys. Johnny Gomes can handle this double play all by himself.

9. Uh ... did this golfer just hit a hole-in-one with a baseball bat?
