Sunday was a banner day for hitting bounced pitches

There are bad-ball hitters, and then there are any-ball-even-off-the-dirt hitters. In Japan, Ichiro famously singled on a bounced pitch. In a 2009 game against the Orioles, Angels outfielder Vladimir Guerrero did the same:

 

This past weekend, two batters, presumably dreaming of bad-ball GIF reels of their own, swung at some seriously low offerings. 

Here's Starlin Castro turning a bounced ball into into a high popup:

And Andrelton Simmons swinging like he's playing some form of cricket:

Neither effort resulted in a base hit, but Castro and Simmons can both keep hope alive of lucking out like the the Rockies' Corey Dickerson did last year:
