Kolten Wong hits pinball single during Cards walk-off
In the bottom of the 10th inning, the Cardinals were looking for a walk-off win against the Cubs. The game was tied, 2-2, and Peter Bourjos led off with a double. Kolten Wong stepped to the plate, prepared to drive in the winning run. Instead, he took a moment to play a bit of pinball.
Wong lined a grounder right past Cubs reliever Justin Grimm, on a dead-set course for second base. The ball hit the bag and ricocheted into the sky before falling into Starlin Castro's waiting glove. By then, though, Wong had reached on an infield single and Bourjos had moves to third. A trick shot that moved the runner 90 feet closer to home is the best kind of trick shot.
After Matt Carpenter was intentionally walked, Jhonny Peralta blooped a pitch into the Cubs' five man outfield, and Bourjos scored on a wide throw home from Mike Baxter. Walk-off win complete, 3-2.
A walk-off win, and a trick shot infield single? That's entertainment.
