The Cut4 Road Trip, Day 13: Talking coding and Kevin Durant in Oklahoma City

The guys behind Cespedes Family BBQ have embarked on a cross-country road trip to see as many Top-100 MLB prospects as possible. You can find an introduction to the trip and their full schedule by clicking here
Sometimes on the road you have to scrap the five-hour drive to an outrageously named town or a bizarre American landmark. Sometimes you have to listen to what your body is telling you. Sometimes you just have to curl up with your stuffed bunny named Yangervis (looking at you, Jordan) and sleep.
After shaking off the cobwebs and doing laundry for the first time in a week, we made the relatively short drive down Interstate 44 from Tulsa to Oklahoma City. We briefly paid our respects to Kevin Durant and then went over to the ballpark.
The mere walk from the car to the stadium was enough to experience the full force of the sweltering mid-July Oklahoman heat. We took a quick reprieve in the air conditioned press box before heading down to the dugout to talk to some similarly sweaty ballplayers. First up: No. 2 Dodgers and No. 20 overall prospect José De León. The 23-year-old has experienced a lightning-quick ascent in the prospect ranks since being drafted in the 24th round back in 2013. We asked the young right-hander about the moment it all clicked for him, being friends with Julio Urías, and whether or not he can fill Kevin Durant's shoes in OKC:

Next we talked to self-proclaimed utilityman and renaissance man Cole Figueroa about watching his alma mater, which soccer team he supports and his unique off-field hobby of coding.

Then we hopped over to the Colorado Springs dugout to chat with Sky Sox reliever/notorious filmmaker Tim Dillard about the outrageous short films he makes with his teammates and the importance of keeping the clubhouse loose -- which you can watch in the video up top.
A Baseball Game Appeared
Colorado Springs Sky Sox at Oklahoma City Dodgers
Prospect wise, this match-up was considerably light. The only high-end prospect in either lineup was Brewers No. 1 and No. 4 overall prospect Orlando Arcia, who struggled at the plate (0-for-4 with 2 K's) but showcased his outstanding glove at shortstop on numerous occasions. Lucky for us, this game treated us to a Generally Awesome Baseball Thing, as Oklahoma City second baseman Zach Walters capped off a 4-hit night with an opposite-field walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth. Extra innings felt imminent with two outs and the bases empty, but Walters was apparently committed to getting us back on the road sooner rather than later. Thanks Zach!

Where We Woke Up: Tulsa, OK
Where We Slept: Erick, OK
Miles Driven: 250
Miles Driven To-Date: 3950
Time in Car: 3:45
Time in Car To-Date: 67:46
Tomorrow's Plan:
So, we've got to be in San Diego in a few days. That means we should probably start making some more progress in the "Driving towards California" part of the trip. And so we will! We're heading towards Albuquerque, N.M., home of a different timezone, Breaking Bad and the Colorado Rockies Triple-A affiliate, the Isotopes.
