The mini-wave may or may not be the next big thing in St. Louis

The wave is described on Wikipedia (trusted source) as an example of metachronal rhythm achieved in a packed stadium when successive groups of spectators briefly stand and raise their arms. Immediately upon stretching to full height, the spectator returns to the usual seated position.

For some unknown reason, St. Louis is enthralled with the wave. It's rare to behold a game at Busch Stadium without fans jumping out of their seats at least once. Big fun, right?

Jim Hayes of FOX Sports Midwest decided to have a little fun with the fans prior to Saturday's Cardinals-Pirates tilt by starting his own version -- the mini-wave.

Eat your heart out, Krazy George!
